About
Myself and My Company
I began
my apprenticeship in 1969 in my fathers painting business in Perth,
Western Australia when ‘rollers’ and ‘no-more-gaps’ were inventions
of the future. I was one of three apprentices in W.A. nominated for
a Bursary Award in 1974.
In 1981
I came to the East Coast to be married and have a working holiday;
we are still here.
James W Decorating was
registered as a business in Queensland in 1986. I have trained six
apprentices and have a first class team working for me. The company
has built up an excellent reputation for quality and efficiency and
my clients are always commenting on how pleased they are with my
staff.
I have
been a Dulux Accredited Painter since it’s inception in 2002
and I have been using Dulux paint since my apprenticeship
days. I had tried other brands on occasions in the early years of
my business but I always came back to the Dulux brand
because of the high quality of their products. I feel my clients
deserve the best and believe quality should never be sacrificed and
should come as standard not as an extra.

Choosing a
Painter
I have written a book on
"How To Become A
Really Successful Painter"
that Dulux
Australiapurchase on a yearly basis, to give to
approximately 1100 final stage painting apprentices Nationally. The
book explains what a client should expect from a trades person and
that professionalism, curtesy and quality is the main requirement
of a job acceptance. It has been widely acknowledged as a valuable
source of information by all 40 of the TAFE Colleges I supply
to.
